Blog Tour & Book Review: Some Like It Wild

Some Like It Wild (The Wild Ones, #2)Author: M. Leighton
Publication Date: March 4, 2014
Publisher: Berkley Trade
Series: The Wild Ones # 2

First was The Wild Ones. Now, the next book in M. Leighton's Wild Ones series...

How far will a good girl go for the bad boy she loves?

Laney Holt is a preacher’s daughter. A good girl. Her only goal was to get married, have babies, and live happily ever after, just like her parents. Only that didn’t happen. The two people closest to her betrayed her, and Laney’s dreams came crashing down. Now she’s left with an empty space she doesn’t know how to fill. Until she meets Jake Theopolis, a daredevil with a death wish who has heartbreaker written all over him.

Jake has no interest in thinking beyond the here and now. All he wants out of life is the next rush, the next ”A feel-good” thing to keep his mind off the pain of his past. His latest rush? Showing Laney there’s more to life than being a good girl—and that going bad can be so much fun. Her only concern now is how she can ever hope to satisfy the wild side of a boy like Jake. She’s looking forward to trying. And so is Jake.

If you love The Wild Ones, you'll be just as wild for M. Leighton's Bad Boys series which includes Down to You, Up to Me, and Everything for Us.

“Some like it wild, but not me. At least not forever.”

“Because I’ve got a thing for forbidden fruit, Laney Holt. Consider yourself warned.”

“I don’t want to do wild things. All I’ve ever really wanted out of life was to find the perfect man to sweep me off my feet, get married, have a family, and live happily ever after. And I don’t have to get wild to achieve any of those things.”
Laney Holt is a preacher’s daughter and has always followed the rules as a result of it. After her longtime boyfriend and fiancé, Shane, leaves her brokenhearted and unforgiving. Even though her parents encourage her to move on and make peace with him, she just cannot let herself. Laney doesn’t seem to want anything else to do with love or a relationship or even the idea of moving forward. That is until Laney finds just what she needs in a man that no one in their town would ever picture her with. Jake Theopolis is a bad boy, especially in the eyes of everyone around Laney. So Laney is more than shocked when she begins to see Jake, and the idea of romance, in a whole new light.

This is the kind of romance that I love to read! Laney is a girl who thinks she has it all figured out and then in walks in the type of guy that she has always claimed she would never fall for. Jake Theopolis is nothing her parents would want for her and probably nothing that she needs, but exactly everything she wants. M. Leighton has a way with words and even more of a way with actions and body language. The tension between these two could be cut with a knife! Their relationship was by no means insta-love; the bond they shared took some time to build which only made their characters more relatable.

I am a big fan of books that sweep me up on the front page and carry me through so quickly that I don’t even realize I am almost done until I am on the last chapter. This was a quick, fun read that definitely had its fun moments. I love books like this and I often pick them up when I am in a reading rut or need something to relax my mind and put me at ease. I am anxious to read the next book in this series and more by M. Leighton.
