Blog Tour & Book Review: Take A Chance

Take a Chance: A Rosemary Beach NovelAuthor: Abbi Glines
Publication Date: February 25, 2014
Publisher: Atria Books
Series: Chance # 1

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines comes the story of Grant, the sexy playboy who first captured readers hearts in Fallen Too Far.

When Harlow Manning's rocker father goes on tour, he sends her to Rosemary Beach, Florida, to live with her half-sister, Nan. The problem: Nan despises her. Harlow has to keep her head down if she wants to get through the next nine months, which seems easy enough. Until gorgeous Grant Carter walks out of Nan's room in nothing but his boxer briefs.

Grant made a huge mistake getting involved with a girl with venom in her veins. He'd known about Nan's reputation, but still he couldn't resist her. Nothing makes him regret the fling more than meeting Harlow, who sends his pulse racing. Yet Harlow wants nothing to do with a guy who could fall for her wicked half-sister and even if there are no strings between Grant and Nan. Grant is desperate to redeem himself in Harlow's eyes, but did he ruin his chances before he even met her?
“I wanted her to understand. I wanted her forgiveness, and I wanted her to know I cherished what she had given me. No one or nothing would ever be that special for me again. I would never forget it. Maybe it was best for both of us if that was all she was willing to do. That night when I had been inside of her, I had been shown something much deeper than I ever imagined. It scared the hell out of me.”

“Three kinds of women in this world. The kind that suck you dry and leave you with nothing. The kind that only want a good time. And the kind that make life worth a damn. That last kind . . . the right woman’s the one who gives as much as she takes, and you can’t get enough. She’s the kind . . . if you lose her, you lose yourself.”

Any book written by Abbi Glines goes immediately to the top of my TBR shelf. They are just that good, and she is just that good! Abbi just has this awesome ability to draw you in right from the beginning with her writing and completely relatable characters. This book is no different than any of the others that I have read by Glines. Glines has managed to make me feel almost every emotion imaginable with her books, and I will always support her as an author. I hope she has much more in store for us!

This book is the first in Grant and Harlow’s stories in the Rosemary Beach series. This book was full of drama, and always with Abbi Glines - passionate, intense sex scenes. This book kicks off when Harlow Manning is shipped off to Florida to live with her awful, and I do mean awful, stepsister, Nan. I have to give Glines credit; I have never hated a character as much as I hate Nan. Without giving too much away I will just say that things heat up when Grant suddenly falls for Harlow, after of course having already had a past with Nan. Drama, drama, and more drama. Don’t we all love a good drama? I mean what makes a book great if not a major conflict?!

By the end of this book I was even more invested in these characters than at the beginning. I am quite unsure how I feel about Grant, especially after some of his choices. There are quite a number of twists thrown in at the end that spice things up even more. Take a Chance ends with a huge cliffhanger, leaving readers only to wonder. I think I equally loved and hated this book, but only because I was frustrated with the choices of some of the characters. Go into this book knowing that you will hate Nan and you might not agree with everyone’s intentions, but that is what makes this story so invigorating.
